Atlante is proud to support and partner with City Harvest, a London-based food charity dedicated to alleviating food poverty and reducing food waste across the city.

At Atlante, sustainability is embedded in our company values, driving how we conduct business. Guided by our ESG pillars of Product, People, and Planet, we’re proud to work with likeminded partners who turn purpose into action, with a solid commitment towards a more sustainable future for everyone. One such partnership is with City Harvest, a frontline London based charity fighting food poverty and food waste across the capital.

This ongoing collaboration is built on shared values: reducing unnecessary waste, supporting vulnerable communities, and protecting the planet.

Purpose From Policy to impact: Feeding London with purpose

Between January and March 2025, Atlante donated 7.8 tonnes of surplus food to City Harvest. This food, which might otherwise have gone to waste, was instead transformed into:

  • 18,467 nutritious meals delivered to people facing food insecurity
  • A saving of 19.7 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with our climate action goals
  • Brought much-needed hope and nourishment to communities across London

This partnership is a tangible example of our ESG principles in action, delivering measurable outcomes for both people and the planet.

“We’re delighted to donate what we can to City Harvest. As a strategic partner and global sourcing leader in the food retail sector, we recognise the importance of managing our economic, environmental and social impact. By working with a frontline charity tackling hunger, we’re proud to be part of a solution reducing waste on our side, and creating real societal value, that supports both people and the environment.” — Robert Borthwick, Head of Supply Chain, Atlante UK

Tackling the Social and Environment Crisis of Food Waste

Food waste is one of the largest contributors to climate change, producing 36 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually in the UK alone. At the same time:

• 7.2 million people live in food-insecure households
• 800,000 children living in poverty are not eligible for free school meals
• Food inflation continues to squeeze families and frontline services

City Harvest addresses both challenges head-on by redistributing food that would otherwise be wasted and supporting over 130,000 Londoners every week.

Creating Value Beyond the Plate

Atlante’s impact goes beyond meals. Through our donations, community organisations can redirect their limited budgets toward other critical services like mental health care, housing advice, youth engagement, and more.

City Harvest’s Social Return on Investment (SROI) analysis shows that for every:

  • 1kg of food redistributed, £3.55 of positive impact is generated
  • £1 invested in City Harvest, £11.90 of value is created for society

This is what ESG looks like in action: reducing emissions, supporting communities, and multiplying impact through collaborative partnerships.

Our Ongoing Commitment

At Atlante, sustainability and social impact are central to how we do business. We build win-win relationships, based on trust and respect for the people we work with, the communities we serve, and the environment where our products are sourced. Working with City Harvest is just one of the ways we put these values into action, one meal at a time.
