Reducing Food Waste

Atlante is proud to support and partner with City Harvest, a London-based food charity dedicated to alleviating food poverty and reducing food waste across the city.

City Harvest rescues surplus food and redistributes it for free to over 375 community partners. These partners include food banks, faith groups, community centres, domestic abuse refuges, hostels, shelters, schools, refugee centres, mental health centres, family centres, and youth clubs, ensuring that good food reaches those in need.

This not only reduces waste but also positively impacts society. We are committed to supporting the communities where we operate, especially during the current cost-of-living crisis. Addressing Food Insecurity in the UK 

The UK is currently facing alarming levels of food insecurity:

● 7.2 million people live in food-insecure households.
● 2.1 million state school students are eligible for free school meals, with an additional
800,000 living in poverty but not qualifying.
● Food inflation is at its highest level in 45 years.
● The number of single-parent households experiencing severe food insecurity has

Atlante's Impact Through City Harvest

By donating surplus food to City Harvest, Atlante has helped nourish thousands of people facing food poverty. In the last four months alone, Atlante's contributions have resulted in:

• Over 3 tonnes of food donated
• 7743 meals delivered to charities feeding communities
• 9.4 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions prevented by rescuing food for human consumption
  
  
  

The UK food industry produces 36 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions from 9.5 million tonnes of food waste. By addressing this issue together, Atlante and City Harvest are doing their bit to reduce their environmental impact.
