Filshill tells customers to expect delivery delays due to heatwave

Filshill has told customers to expect delays in their normal delivery days after the heatwave doubled forecasted volumes.

The business said it was not alone in experiencing problems, and that delays were expected across the sector due to increased demand outstripping supply on certain key products.

Filshill said its teams were working hard to clear any backlog as soon as possible, despite suppliers also experiencing problems.

“Due to the unprecedented weather, we have advised our customers of potential delays,” said Filshill chief sales and marketing officer Craig Brown.

“We pride ourselves on open and honest communication and with this in mind it is only right that we communicate as much as possible when we will experience delays.

“With our strong customer relationships and partnerships built over many years, customers appreciate all our efforts to get products to them in as timely a manner as possible.”

The Grocer understands retailers in the north of Scotland who are further away from the wholesaler’s Glasgow depot are less likely to be affected by any potential delays than those in the central belt.

This is because those in the north are prioritised for delivery due to the infeasibility of travelling to buy product in-depot.

It comes as Booker paused frozen deliveries for Budgens and Londis retailers for three days from Monday, and Nisa capped ambient deliveries due to the record-breaking temperatures.
