Event at the Italian Embassy

The elegant surroundings of the Embassy in the spring sunshine provided the perfect backdrop for a night of inspiring speeches, authentic cuisine, and meaningful connections. The room was filled with representatives from the best of the UK and Italian FCMG industry, from retailers to producers and industry influencers and experts.

Guests were welcomed by His Excellency Inigo Lambertini, Italian Ambassador to the UK, whose opening remarks set the tone for a celebration of the best of Italy. Giovanni Sacchi of the Italian Trade Agency followed, highlighting the vital role of Italian trade as a bridge between the UK and Italy, a mission Atlante proudly shares.

Natasha Linhart, CEO of Atlante, shared insights on the privilege of working in the business of bringing authentic Italian food to the UK market, reinforcing the importance of quality and authenticity in everything we do.

A particular highlight of the evening was the keynote speech by Judith Batchelar OBE. Drawing on her distinguished career, including over 16 years as Director of Sainsbury’s Brand, Judith gave a compelling tribute to the Mediterranean diet. As Honorary President of the British Nutrition Foundation and Co-Chair of Defra’s Food Data Transparency Partnership eco working group, her perspective was both authoritative and deeply passionate.

The evening continued with a stunning three course meal prepared by chef Danilo Cortellini, who guided us on a culinary journey from Southern to Northern Italy. Each course was expertly paired with wines selected by Alessandro Berselli, enhancing the regional storytelling.

To complete the atmosphere, violinist Elena Mirandola graced us with a beautiful performance, paying homage to Italy’s rich musical tradition.

This memorable evening was a celebration of Italian excellence in diplomacy, trade, cuisine, culture and a step forward in our journey to strengthen collaboration between Italy and the UK.
